Academic
Support Centers
To help students improve their academic performance and achieve their educational goals, Berkeley has established Academic Support Centers on each campus. Any student needing help will find an array of services such as study skills training; support for reading and writing skills; and assistance with mathematics, oral communication, and computer applications. Both peer and faculty tutors are available for assistance. Students who need them may receive individualized plans for instructional support.

In addition, the Academic Support Center provides supplemental instruction in some classes by embedding peer tutors into courses. Faculty members may also opt to include additional training, such as a research paper writing workshop offered by an Academic Support Center staff member, in their regular classes.
The Academic Support Centers are open during the day as well as some evening hours. For more information, contact Gerald Iacullo, Director, Academic Support Center, New York, and Dr. Roseann Torsiello, Director, Academic Support Center, New Jersey.

“We feel that the Academic Support Center is not just a place where people come to, so weve implemented different programs where we actually go out rather than wait for the students to come to us.”
