Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT)

Mission

In order to enhance student learning and improve student retention, CELT provides Berkeley College faculty with the tools and support required to promote a comprehensive educational experience, foster academic integrity, and encourage lifelong learning in the College's students. CELT's programs and services focus on assessment, grants, mentorship, professional development, and scholarship, which aid faculty in providing students with a consistent, high-quality education.

Vision

The Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching fosters an environment that encourages the creation of a community of practice through sharing and collaboration among faculty members in order to improve the academic experience for both students and faculty at Berkeley College.

Goals

• Incorporate results from assessment into faculty development programs in order to enhance the student learning experience.


• Provide a structured faculty orientation and mentorship program for new full-time and adjunct faculty to create a support system and maintain faculty retention.


• Offer online and on-site workshops to support faculty in their professional development and teaching endeavors.


• Facilitate a network of faculty members to work with each other on scholarship and grant opportunities as a community.


• Manage a peer-review process for the application and awarding of professional and enrichment faculty grants.


• Maintain a Blackboard Organization in order to promote CELT activities and services.
