History
The Berkeley Art Gallery opened in February, 2004 with a show of ceramic sculptures by internationally recognized artist Louis Mendez. The midtown location and large lobby and display window provide an excellent space to exhibit the works of both well-known and emerging artists.
The brainchild of Berkeley College professor and artist Robert Keiber, the Gallery hosts 12 shows per year. Since its opening, featured artists have included Frank Mann, Rickie DuBurke, Ray Rosario, Rose Sigal Ibsen, Sidney Harris, Harriet FeBland, and Lori Gurian. Over 2,000 visitors have attended shows at the Gallery. In 2007, the gallery received an award from the American Society of Contemporary Artists, for distinguished contribution to the arts.
