Berkeley College locations hosted events to celebrate Earth Day 2008!
NYC Midtown and Lower Manhattan students, faculty and staff were invited to attend EarthFair 2008, held on Vanderbilt Avenue along the west side of Grand Central Terminal on April 18 and 19. EarthFair featured musical performances as well as displays and activities for children and adults by environmental non-profits and green companies. In addition, visitors to Grand Central Terminal viewed The Giant Earth Images show in the Main Concourse April 14-22. Both EarthFair and Earth Week were sponsored by Earth Day New York.
The White Plains location hosted a Green Fair on April 22 and distributed information on bottled water vs. tap water, benefits of plants, Earth Day history, and energy-saving tips.
On April 23, at 11:00 am, Woodland Park students, staff, and faculty commemorated the new trees that have been planted to replace trees that were removed for the new parking lot. Students were then invited to "Recycle Your Style" by bringing in their old T-shirts and other clothing items to "recycle" with tie-dye. They also had the opportunity to tie-dye canvas bags to replace plastic bag shopping bags. Students will also plant flowers in May.
On April 22, the Newark location played an Earth Day video all day. On April 23, students and staff shared what the campus is doing to conserve energy and resources at the Town Hall meeting. In May, the staff will decorate the campus with flowers and plants.
Woodbridge students, staff, and faculty were invited to watch the video, An Inconvenient Truth.
The Paramus location invited students, staff, and faculty to beautify the campus courtyard by helping to plant flowers on May 7.
Online hosted a discussion board on Earth Day related topics and shared online resources.
Many thanks to campus administration, Student Development staff, Project GreenPath committee members, and student and staff volunteers who organized these events.
