Vedika Rupee came to America at the age of 13, after growing up in the South American country of Guyana. “When we came to America, my parents’ only rule was to get an education,” she said. “Berkeley College’s programs not only helped me grow, but also helped me fulfill my parents’ dream.”
A resident of Clifton, NJ, Ms. Rupee graduated from Berkeley College in 2015 with a B.S. in Marketing Communications. While balancing course work in Woodland Park, NJ, she took full advantage of extra-curricular activities such as the Berkeley College Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America – Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL).
As President of FBLA-PBL, she helped lead the club to victory at the State Leadership Conference at Rutgers Business School in March of 2015, winning the Business Ethics – Performance Event competition and placing third in the Business Presentation – Performance Event.
“Being a part of an organization that is dedicated to improving your skills, knowledge and techniques helped me better myself as an individual,” Ms. Rupee said. “It also helped me better understand the different areas of business, life and support within a team.”
After graduating with her Bachelor’s degree, Ms. Rupee became a Project Manager at trade show company Nimlok NYC, based in Fairfield, NJ. She credits Berkeley College Career Services with helping her prepare for her first interview with Nimlok NYC, kick-starting a growing career in marketing.
“At one time in my life, I was attending conferences and seminars. Now I plan, operate, and oversee big shows like Toy Fair, Comic Con, and Boat Show, due to the knowledge, leadership, and mentoring I received from Berkeley College,” Ms. Rupee said.

Success can be defined in many ways. To me, success is based on how happy you are. Every decision you make today will define your future lifestyle.

What advice would you offer today’s college-bound students?
I would say college is a once in a lifetime experience. I know there is a lot of stress that comes with it, but don’t forget to take in all the wonderful moments that will last a lifetime. Most importantly, take advantage of all the clubs, organization, and experiences your college offers you.

What was your most memorable moment at Berkeley College?
My best memory of Berkeley College is having the opportunity to attend the FBLA-PBL National Leadership Conference in Chicago, IL with my peers in 2015. With the hard work of leaders from the FBLA-PBL, we were able to place first at the State Leadership Conference at Rutgers Business School, which qualified us for the Conference in Chicago.
