Siblings Motivate Each Other to Succeed at Berkeley College
Not every sister and brother get along as well as Angela and Michael Bezzina of Moonachie, NJ. A little competition can be a healthy motivator, but their mutual support and respect is what empowered them toward earning 4.0 grade point averages by the time they both graduated on May 5, 2017.
“I enrolled in Berkeley College because it had a family-like environment that always felt like home,” said Ms. Bezzina, never imagining that she would actually end up sitting next to her brother in a classroom.
Inspired by his sister’s early success, Michael, who held an Associate’s degree, decided to return to college to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Management. “I saw my sister achieving great things at this school and she motivated me to do the same,” said Mr. Bezzina.
“We drove to school together, sat next to each other in classes, and truly grew together as a family,” said Ms. Bezzina. “My brother and I have an amazing relationship and Berkeley College is one of the reasons.”
After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Ms. Bezzina is planning to pursue CPA certification and a Master’s degree. “Berkeley has prepared me for success with a well-rounded education and the necessary skills to enter the business world,” said Ms. Bezzina. “It’s also helped me become a well-rounded young lady.”
For Mr. Bezzina, an internship Berkeley College Career Services helped arrange led to a management trainee position at Enterprise Rent-a-Car. “Working at Enterprise has taught me a lot about success in the real world, and I am thankful Berkeley College gave me this opportunity,” said Mr. Bezzina.
“My most memorable moment at Berkeley is when I got to spend time with my sister Angela in classes,” said Mr. Bezzina. “This is something I never thought would happen and I am so glad Berkeley brought us together to be both an educated and successful family.”
