Interior Designer Grads Are the Best of Bergen in 2017

20171010

The people of Bergen County have spoken.

Published 11 times per year, Bergen magazine delivers all of the best local health, lifestyle, and shopping information. In their latest issue, “Best in Bergen 2017,” the publication turned to its readers, asking them to submit their favorite restaurants, shops, and services that they consider the finest in the county.

Two of the winners happen to be Berkeley College’s own, and in the same category.

“The Face of Award-Winning Interiors” honor went to Diane Durocher. Ms. Durocher is the founder of Diane Durocher Interiors in Ramsey, New Jersey, a business that has flourished for over 20 years.

“Graduating from Berkeley College with my degree in Interior Design was a lifelong dream,” she notes in her magazine feature. Ms. Durocher has received numerous “Design of Excellence” awards from the New Jersey Chapter of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers), and continues to receive recognition in various publications. Ms. Durocher feels “tremendously honored” to receive such acknowledgement.

Bergen magazine also gives praise to Krista Wostbrock, head of KW Design, a full-service interior design division of Wostbrock Home, located in Ridgewood, New Jersey.

The complimentary article highlights Ms. Wostbrock and her mother, Heidi Wostbrock, as “The Face of Distinguished Interiors.” Ms. Wostbrock credits both her firsthand learning experience through her family’s design and retail business and the degree she earned at Berkeley College.

Those enrolled in the Interior Design program at Berkeley are at a great advantage. An experienced group of faculty lead the way with a curriculum that focuses on theory, culture, history, and design fundamentals. Students are well prepared with the necessary skills and practical knowledge to enter the industry in a range of roles.

Ms. Durocher has a piece of advice for the future interior designers of our generation. She stresses the importance of internships, which are part of all Berkeley programs, and provide priceless career knowledge.

“Do an internship, learn, and be open. Make sure it will be an experience of value and substance.”

Diane Durocher Interiors is proud to offer internship programs to aspiring designers, Ms. Durocher adds.

Berkeley College congratulates both Ms. Durocher and Ms. Wostbrock on their recognition from their local communities and Bergen magazine.
