On May 30, 2012 Berkeley College held a Memorial Day ceremony at the Woodland Park location. The ceremony remembered fallen soldiers and recognized the more than 500 Berkeley College students and numerous staff who served in the Armed Forces. On May 11, 2012 more than 350 Berkeley College associates and alumni volunteered 1,500 hours of community service at community agencies in New York and New Jersey for the annual Community Service Day. On April 23, 2012, President Dario A. The Berkeley College community raised $4,344, including a match from the College, to benefit Japan’s relief efforts. The proceeds were divided between the American Red Cross; the Japan Society; the New York City’s Mayor’s Fund; and Save the Children. On June 16, 2011, Japan Society President Motoatsu Sakurai accepted the check on behalf of the four organizations.

On June 8, 2010, President Dario A. Cortes, Ph.D. and nearly 80 other college and university presidents from across New York attended U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand's first Summit Of NY College and University Presidents in Washington, D.C.

On Thursday, March 25, 2010, President Dario A. Cortes, Ph.D. was interviewed on a half-hour Univision community show, with News Co-anchor, Antonio Martinez.

On February 25, 2010, President Dario A. Cortes, Ph.D., presented a check for $16,336 to AmeriCares, Doctors Without Borders, Habitat for Humanity, and Save the Children — four organizations that are bringing aid to Haiti in the wake of the January earthquake. AmeriCares Vice President, Individual Philanthrophy, Jennifer Grey accepted the check on behalf of the four organizations.

President Cortes was interviewed in Spanish by the host Ricardo Espinoza of the 1280 AM WADO radio station reaching out to the Hispanic NY and NJ community through radio interviews building awareness and offering assistance.

On December 1, 2009, President Cortes presented Berkeley College’s support of the revitalization of the city of Newark at the Newark Insiders Forum sponsored by the Newark Regional Business Partnership. He was one of four presidents who were invited to speak.
