On Monday, July 1, Dover Business College students began classes as Berkeley College students, the result of a planned merger recently approved by the U.S. Department of Education. These students will continue in their clinical and certificate programs at the Clifton and Dover, NJ, locations.
The merger adds programs in some of today’s most in-demand careers. The Medical Assistant, Surgical Technology, Multi-Level Patient Care Technician, Practical Nurse, and Surgical Processing Technician clinical and certificate programs join the range of bachelor’s and associate degree programs offered by Berkeley College at seven other locations in New Jersey and New York and through Berkeley College Online. The Practical Nurse, Medical Assistant certificate and Surgical Technology program, respectively, are approved by the New Jersey Board of Nursing and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
“This expansion is a natural fit, in keeping with the Berkeley College mission to empower students to achieve success in dynamic careers,” said Dario A. Cortes, PhD, President of Berkeley College. “Like Berkeley College students, Dover students are career-focused and well prepared. They benefit from experienced, supportive faculty and staff, as well as programs designed to meet business and professional demands of today’s marketplace.”
Dover Business College was founded in 1958 and was accredited by the Association of Independent Colleges and Schools in 1974. In the last five years, the college awarded more than 2,800 diplomas in healthcare, information technology and business programs.
Seventy-five thousand square feet of renovated facilities at the Clifton and Dover, NJ, locations include modern and technologically well-equipped classrooms, libraries, computer labs, academic support centers, nursing practice areas, practical operating rooms and medical laboratories. Now, at the Dover location, students may enroll in degree programs in additional career fields, such as Marketing Communications, Management and Legal Studies.
