Arlene Cohen

Special Assistant to the Senior Vice President, Office for Student Success

Arlene Cohen was appointed Special Assistant to the Senior Vice President, Office for Student Success, in January 2011. Since 2003, she served as Campus Operating Officer, Paramus Campus.

Ms. Cohen began her career as a College Transfer Counselor for VIA (Vocational Institute of America) in September 1974. One year later, she became the Director of Placement and Counseling at the East Orange/Garret Mountain Campus, where she successfully implemented Garret Mountain’s first co-op program. In 1991 Ms. Cohen served as Director of Career Development for the New Jersey campuses, and in 1993 she was promoted to Vice President, Career Services. She transferred to the New York City Campus in 1999 as the Senior Vice President of Placement.

Before joining Berkeley College Ms. Cohen was Education Supervisor for Kean University and Montclair State University. She spent five years as a full-time teacher and later became a teacher and tutor to homebound students.

Ms. Cohen holds an MA in Student Personnel Services from Montclair State University and a BA in Education from the University of Florida. She is a member of the Commerce & Industry Association of New Jersey and the Bergen County Professional Counselors Association.
