Chair, Online, School of Health Studies Chair, Medical Insurance, Billing, and Coding
Kelly Berge was appointed Chair, Medical Insurance, Billing, and Coding in July 2015 and Online Chair, School of Health Studies in July 2013. As Online Chair, Ms. Berge monitors online courses for quality and consistency; recruits, trains, and schedules online faculty; and implements learning objectives throughout online courses for the School of Health Studies. Ms. Berge developed and facilitated the first Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) offered by Berkeley College in 2014.
Prior to her appointment as Chair, Ms. Berge served as Assistant Dean, Online, from 2012 to 2013. She has been a professor at Berkeley College since 2010. Ms. Berge also taught at Dover Business College from 2006 to 2012, where she developed a number of online courses, including Computerized Medical Billing, Medical Coding, Introduction to Healthcare, Reimbursement and Appeals, and Insurance Procedures. Ms. Berge received the Berkeley College Online Faculty of the Year award in 2014, and presented Berkeley College’s MOOC – Allied Healthcare: Beyond the Mask – at the New Jersey Colloquium in 2015. Her non-teaching experience includes medical office supervision, medical billing, and patient financial service representation.
Ms. Berge received her M.S. in Management and Healthcare Administration from New England College in Henniker, NH, and her B.S. in Business Management from Oakland University in Rochester, MI. She is certified as a Coding Specialist, Professional Coder, and Billing and Coding Specialist.
