
Position: Chair, Management Department, New Jersey
Areas of Expertise: Emerging management trends, human resource management, financial planning, strategic management, organizational dynamics, and management systems.
Background: Dr. Rapanos joined Berkeley College in 2001 as a member of the business faculty. He became Chair of the Management Department in 2005. His responsibilities include developing and delivering in-class and online instruction in the areas of business organizations and management, principles of management, organizational behavior, human resource management and strategic management.
In addition, Dr. Rapanos advises students on career planning and is responsible for recruiting, retaining, and managing both full-time and adjunct management faculty at the College’s four New Jersey campuses. He also participates in the development of new degree programs and management courses to meet the needs of emerging management trends.
Before joining Berkeley College, Dr. Rapanos had a distinguished career with Merrill Lynch & Co. As the Director of Strategic Sourcing & HR Information Services, he developed and implemented sourcing and recruiting strategies to enhance the firm’s ability to identify and recruit talent as well as developed Human Resource metrics to assess the effectiveness of the firm’s human capital. He also held a number of management positions, including Manager of the National Call-In Center, the company’s national advertising promotional response center.
Dr. Rapanos completed his financial planning coursework at the College for Financial Planning. He holds the Certified Financial Planner designation (CFP).
Awards and Recognitions: Berkeley College honored Dr. Rapanos with the 2007 New Jersey Award for Outstanding Teaching. He was chosen because of his passion and enthusiasm for teaching and his availability to students. In addition, Dr. Rapanos was recognized as a great motivator who goes out of his way to help his peers.
Degrees: Dr. Rapanos holds a Doctor of Professional Studies (DPS) degree in Management from Pace University; an MBA in Business Administration and Policy from the Bernard M. Baruch Graduate School of Business; and a B.A. in Economics from Hunter College.
