Areas of Expertise: Academic Department Chairmanship, Curricula and New Teaching Models Development, Implementation, and Evaluation; Faculty Development, Leadership in Education, Outcomes Assessment.
Background: Dr. Vakalis joined Berkeley College in 2004 as Dean of Academic Affairs for the College's New York City campus. Her responsibilities included coordinating academic operations and student and faculty support services; overseeing the development of new academic programs; supporting online learning initiatives; and helping establish a Center of Teaching and Learning with a focus on educating a diverse student body.
Dr. Vakalis joined Berkeley after spending ten years with Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. As the Associate Dean of the Ross School of Management and Leadership, she was responsible for faculty and programs in Computer Science, Digital Communications, Information Technology, and ESL. Dr. Vakalis was also responsible for the Teaching & Learning Center, an academic support center for both students and faculty.
Degrees: Dr. Vakalis holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University, an M.Ed. in Educational Technology from the University of Bath, England, and a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Hull, England.
