
Position: Dean of Student Development & Campus Life, New York Campuses (Midtown Manhattan, Lower Manhattan, White Plains).
Areas of Expertise: Higher education administration; experiential learning, mentorship, and developmental leadership in contemporary culture; student-focused community and civic engagement; success of men, and men of color, in college; institutional student retention and graduation rates.
Background: Mr. Baston joined Berkeley College in 1998 as an adjunct professor. In 1999, he was appointed Assistant Dean of Students, New York City, and in 2002, he was appointed to his current position.
As Dean of Student Development & Campus Life for the College’s New York campuses, Mr. Baston serves as the chief student services officer. His primary responsibilities include the development of departmental initiatives that assist students in becoming engaged learners and effective leaders.
From 1998-2005, Mr. Baston served as an education and non-profit corporation law attorney for Dougherty & Associates, New York, NY.
Mr. Baston is Pastor of the St. Luke Cathedral in Laurelton, Queens, and a Board Member of Harlem-based Selk Housing Development Corporation.
Professional Affiliations: Mr. Baston is a member of the New York State Bar and a SEVIS Designated School Official. In addition, he is a member of the Association of American Colleges and Universities, American College Personnel Association, and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.
Degrees: Mr. Baston received a law degree from Brooklyn Law School and a B.A. in Political Science from Iona College.
