Bonnie Schiwal is a graduate of the School of Health Studies at Berkeley College, earning an Associate’s degree in Applied Science in Surgical Technology.
After several incomplete attempts at pursuing a college education, Bonnie found her passion in the Surgical Technology program at Berkeley College.
At Berkeley, she committed to her dream and her academics. She consistently was named to the Dean’s List, and was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society for high-achieving students pursuing two-year degrees. She also serves on the Executive Board of the Berkeley College chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success.
In October 2017, Bonnie was a student speaker at the annual Berkeley College Women’s Entrepreneurship Week event. She shared a courageous story of how her good Samaritan instincts and classroom knowledge came into play one afternoon when she attended to the injured at the scene of a motorcycle accident.
“I did it because I hope someone would be there to try and help as well, if my family was ever in a situation like that” she told the audience.
Bonnie attributes her success to her “Let Go and Let God” mentality, and to the support of her partner, Davidson, and daughter, Bria. She looks forward to building a career in surgical technology, a field, she says, that “brings a smile to her face.”
