Hurricane Michael Relief

Berkeley Cares logo

As Hurricane Michael threatens to devastate Florida and the Gulf Coast, our hearts go out to those whose lives will be impacted by this catastrophic storm. Our thoughts are with our students, alumni, associates, and their loved ones who will be affected.

Through Berkeley Cares, the College has launched a systemwide effort to support Americares with financial donations to those in need. The mission of Americares is to save lives and improve health for people affected by poverty or disaster.

The best way to help disaster victims is with a financial donation that can be put to use right away. According to relief organizations, donations of food, clothing, and toiletries may actually slow relief efforts, as it takes time and money to store, sort, clean, and distribute donated items. Click here to learn more about how Americares will use donations.

As disasters are often used by scammers, be cautious of those soliciting donations through social media or asking for personal information, and only donate directly through an organization’s website.
