Beth M. Castiglia, Ph.D., was named Provost at Berkeley College in December 2015. Under the direction of the President, the Provost serves as the chief academic officer of the College.
Dr. Castiglia joined Berkeley College as Dean of the Larry L. Luing School of Business® in February 2015. In this role, Dr. Castiglia was responsible for maintaining academic standards, overseeing the hiring of faculty, and working with other deans to support the Mission and Values of Berkeley College. She implemented the process of using assessments for student learning and operational outcomes in the School, and emphasized the experiential components in business classes, integrating soft skills into the traditional college curriculum. This emphasis supports Berkeley’s mission of empowering students to achieve lifelong success in dynamic careers.
Prior to her work at Berkeley College, Dr. Castiglia served as Dean and Professor, School of Business, at Felician College in Lodi, NJ. Her prior teaching experience also includes faculty assignments at Ramapo College and Fairleigh Dickinson University. She also served as a Research Assistant in Economics at Goldman Sachs and Co.
Dr. Castiglia has authored and co-authored numerous articles, most recently published in The Journal of Higher Education Practice and The Research in Higher Education, and is the recipient of several Distinguished Research Awards from Allied Academies and the John L. Green Excellence in Business Education Award from the International Assembly of Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). She has delivered papers, presentations, and workshops at numerous college and business education proceedings and conferences.
Dr. Castiglia’s service to the profession includes leading organizations through efforts that range from strategic planning to outcomes assessment and journal review work.
She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences from Walden University in Minneapolis, MN; an M.S. in Economics from Pace University in Manhattan, NY; and a B.S. in Economics from Saint Peter’s College in Jersey City, NJ.
