School of Health Studies
Dr. Skuka was appointed Dean of the School of Health Studies in 2016. In this role, Dr. Skuka maintains academic standards for a range of instructional degrees and certifications, including the Health Sciences; Medical Assistant; Medical Insurance, Billing, and Coding; Patient Care Technician; Practical Nurse; LPN to BSN; Surgical Processing Technician; and Surgical Technology programs.
Dr. Skuka has been involved in healthcare for over 15 years in clinical and compliance officer roles. Prior to being appointed to the Dean’s position, Dr. Skuka served as the Chair of the Medical Programs from 2006-2011, and as a faculty member 2011-2016. She has a passion for teaching and has more than 10 years of teaching experience in higher education, as well as a strong background in information technology and distance learning. Serving as an instructor and administrator for many years, Dr. Skuka firmly believes it is possible to motivate students to engage in a life-long learning through providing support and the right tools to continue with their education.
Dr. Skuka is a member of the American Medical Association, Medical Group Management Association, American College of Medical Practice Executives, American Heart Association, National Institute of Healthcare Improvement, American Academy of Professional Coders, and American Medical Technologists.
Dr. Skuka holds an M.D. from the University Of Tirana School Of Medicine in Tirana, Albania. She also holds a Ph.D. from Capella University in Minneapolis, MinnesotaN, as well as several medical certifications.
