Dr. Sharon McLennon-Wier is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor and serves as the Director of Disability Services for the New Jersey and New York campuses of Berkeley College.

Dr. McLennon-Wier has been working in the field of rehabilitation counseling and mental health for more than 20 years. She received her Ph.D. degree from Seton Hall University in Counseling Psychology in 2012. She obtained a U.S. Law and Methodology Certificate from New York University’s School of Continuing Education in 2003, her M.S. degree in Rehabilitation Counseling at Hunter College, City University of New York in 1998, and her B.S. degree in Biology from Syracuse University in 1993. 

Before joining Berkeley College, Dr. McLennon-Wier’s endeavors included working for the New York State Commission for the Blind Harlem District Office as the District Manager, The Shield Institute for Clinical Services as a Rehabilitation Counseling Consultant, Lavelle School for the Blind as a Transition Coordinator, and The Educational Alliance’s Pride Site II Substance Abuse Treatment Center as a Vocational Coordinator. She has also been an Adjunct Psychology Professor for over 10 years, teaching at Concordia College-New York, Iona College, Long Island University, and Seton Hall University. Additionally, she has started her own mental health practice to work specifically with clients with physical, sensory, intellectual, emotional, behavioral, medical, and psychiatric disabilities. 

She is dedicated to providing training and presentations regarding psychological topics associated with the aspect of disability. She has presented at numerous conferences through Division 22 and Division 33 of the American Psychological Association. Her research interests are in the areas of sexuality and disability and she has published several articles and book chapters regarding this subject matter. She has also served the rehabilitation professional community by her service to the National Rehabilitation Association’s Metro New York chapter. She is Past President of the Metro New York NRA Chapter 2001 to 2002 and was the co-chairperson for exhibits of the NERA conference held in New York in 2003 and 2013.
