Credit for Prior Learning

Students in the Patient Care Technician program who possess active, current healthcare certifications may be eligible to receive credit for prior learning for some Patient Care Technician (PCT) and/or Medical (MED) courses. Students requesting credit for prior learning must provide evidence of their active certification(s) to the Department Chair for review.

Patient Care Technician students may test out of Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Medical Terminology, and/or Introduction to Psychology by taking a formal Challenge Examination for credit. Challenge Examinations may only be attempted once for each course and may not be taken for any courses in which the student received a failing grade in a previous term. Students may not attempt to test out of courses in which they are currently enrolled.
