Academic Integrity

Berkeley College is committed to providing an educational experience that develops professional competencies, including habits of personal and professional integrity. Violations of academic integrity (including all forms of plagiarism, cheating, and deception) will not be tolerated.

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) software, such as ChatGPT, without proper citation is considered to be a form of plagiarism and is prohibited.  While AI may be used as a guide when first conducting research or used for study purposes, once students post or submit an assignment, it must be reflective of their own work. Utilizing AI to generate ideas and pass them off as one’s own will be considered plagiarism and will constitute an academic integrity violation. Also, anyone found to be using Internet web browser extensions such as QuizWiz or Quizzard during exams and/or quizzes will receive a 0 for the test/quiz and the student’s action will constitute a violation of the College’s academic integrity policy.

Any nursing student who violates Berkeley College’s academic integrity policy (https://berkeleycollege.edu/pdf/academic-integrity-policy.pdf), including the use of AI software without properly citing the source(s), and/or commits copyright infringement (including with Kaplan) in any NUR or SCI course, will receive a minimum 5% grade reduction for the first offense. Should a second academic integrity and/or copyright violation occur in any relevant NUR or SCI course, the student will fail the course. A third academic integrity and/or copyright violation occurring in any NUR or SCI course will result in the student being dismissed from the Program.

The process is as follows:
