EKG Technician Training Program

Learn to work as an Electrocardiogram (EKG) Technician in healthcare facilities.

In this three-course (9 credits) program, you will focus on:

  • Administering and interpreting EKG tests
  • Preparing patients for stress testing, and applying Holter monitors
  • Preparing to participate in a national certification exam

The program also includes background information on anatomy and physiology of the heart, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, and legal aspects of patient contact.

All topics explored in the Medical Emergencies and Electrocardiography (EKG) course prepare learners for the Certified Electrocardiography Technician (CET) certification examination offered through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), as well as for Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification through the American Heart Association.

Available in a combination of online and onsite instruction. In addition to 30 hours of online instruction, Medical Emergencies and Electrocardiography has a 30-hour onsite lab component. Credits may be applied toward a degree program offered within the School of Health Studies.

The following costs are included in the fee for the EKG Technician Training program:

  • Certified Electrocardiography Technician certification exam offered through the NHA
  • Certified Electrocardiography Technician certification exam review
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification offered through the American Heart Association
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification exam review and training

  • Lab fees
