Endoscopic Reprocessing

Learn the skills needed to become an important member of the Central Service Department by reprocessing endoscopes and accessory equipment.

A single course (3 credits) that covers:

  • Government regulations/standards
  • Infection prevention and control
  • Decontamination
  • Cleaning
  • Disinfection
  • Microbiology
  • Body systems and related surgical procedures
  • Medical terms and abbreviations used in endoscopy

All topics explored in this course prepare learners for the Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) examination offered through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD).

Available in a combination of online and onsite instruction. The course is three (3) credit hours (30 hours lecture, 30 hours mandatory onsite lab component).

Credits from completed courses may be applied toward a degree program offered within the School of Health Studies.
