Medical Emergencies and Electrocardiography

Learn to respond to common medical emergency situations.

A single course (3 credits) that covers:

  • Placing leads and performing EKGs
  • Troubleshooting EKG machine errors
  • Recognizing basic cardiac arrhythmias
  • Spirometry testing
  • Responding to common emergency situations and administering first aid

All topics explored in this course prepare learners for the Certified Electrocardiography Technician (CET) certification examination offered through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), as well as for Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification through the American Heart Association.

Available in a combination of online and onsite instruction. The course is three (3) credit hours (30 hours lecture, 30 hours mandatory onsite lab component).

Credits from completed courses may be applied toward a degree program offered within the School of Health Studies.

  • Certified Electrocardiography Technician certification exam offered through the NHA
  • Certified Electrocardiography Technician certification exam review
