Phlebotomy Technician Training Program

An introduction where students will learn to master the methods and techniques of phlebotomy.

In this three-course (9 credits) program, you will also learn:

  • A variety of laboratory procedures
  • Medical Terminology
  • Anatomy and Physiology review
  • Blood collection procedures
  • Specimen collection practice
  • Specimen processing and handling
  • Laboratory operations, including safety, quality control, universal precautions, routine laboratory tests, confidentiality, and ethics

All topics explored in the Specimen Collection and Procedures course prepare learners for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification examination offered through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).

Phlebotomy Technician Training Program 

Available in a combination of online and onsite instruction. In addition to 30 hours of online instruction, Specimen Collection and Procedures has a 30-hour onsite lab component. Credits may be applied toward a degree program offered within the School of Health Studies.

  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification exam offered through the NHA
