Learn the skills to keep people and places safe

In the New Jersey Security Officer Training course at Berkeley College you’ll learn about:

  • Security fundamentals, with an emphasis on homeland security and public safety
  • The duties and responsibilities, ethical obligations, and professional conduct of a security officer
  • Communication and report writing
  • Incident and emergency response
  • Terrorism awareness

You’ll complete the course by taking the New Jersey Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) exam.

The Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) training is required for all security officer positions in New Jersey. The SORA training program includes 24 hours of classroom instruction by a New Jersey State Police SORA certified instructor. The training must be completed within 30 days.
