Lisa Karakas
Lisa Karakas is a Professor of Applied Media, English, and English as a Second Language courses in the Berkeley College Division of General Education. She joined Berkeley College in 1996 and teaches a variety of online, onsite, and blended English courses.
Karakas loves helping her students gain confidence and improve their English skills, as well as collaborating with her Berkeley College colleagues on various committees.
Karakas presented “Conducting Inclusive Workplace Meetings: Strategies and Interactive Breakout Sessions” during the International Women’s Day DEI Leadership Summit in New York City in March 2024. She also presented a “Gnowbe Microlearning Instructional Design Certification” in May 2022 and “QM Quality Matters: Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) Certification” at Berkeley College in June 2018.
Karakas is a violinist who has played at numerous Berkeley College events over the years.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from The State University of New York at Stony Brook and a Master of Science in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from The State University of New York at Albany.
