How Academic Partnerships can benefit your students

To make higher education more accessible and affordable, Berkeley College collaborates with high schools to provide college-level courses to qualified students. Courses may be offered at the high school, at one of the Berkeley College campuses, or through Berkeley College Online®. Students should consult their high school guidance counselors for Dual Enrollment application procedures and more information.

High school students who take college courses are more likely to attend and graduate from college than those who do not, according to a report by Boston-based education nonprofit organization Jobs for the Future.

These are just some of the ways students can benefit:

  • Students can “test the waters” of college learning and explore potential career fields.
  • Students may earn credits toward a college degree or certificate program. Participating high schools may permit such credits to apply to the students’ high school diplomas.
  • Students who complete a full semester (at least 12 credits) of coursework can reduce the time and cost required to complete a degree or certificate program.
  • Berkeley College Grants are available to assist students participating in Dual Enrollment. Award amounts are subject to agreement.

Dual Enrollment Options

Three options are available when partnering with Berkeley College:

  1. Instructor-Led Courses: If your professor meets the credentialing requirements for the subject area, they can be approved to teach the course. In this case, we require a minimum of 10 students per class.
  2. Asynchronous/Synchronous Course with Berkeley College Adjunct Faculty: If your instructor does not meet the credentialing requirements, we can offer the course asynchronously through our adjunct faculty. This can be delivered online or at our Woodbridge, NJ campus. There is a base fee, in addition to the per-student fee (10 students minimum).
  3. Junior-Senior Option: This allows eligible students to enroll in entry-level college courses with your approval. Students may take courses online or on site, depending on availability. Fee must be paid prior to beginning of the semester.
