Institutional Update: COVID-19

Dear Berkeley College Community,

I am pleased to share some positive news with you today as we continue to monitor COVID-19 developments across the region.

As of this morning, 775 on-site New York and New Jersey courses have now been converted to an online modality. Feedback from students and faculty has been encouraging. Our students are engaged and motivated to complete the Winter 2020 semester in a strong position. Nearly 4,000 students had logged in to Canvas within 24 hours by Monday afternoon.

Associates working remotely have reported minimal technology issues to the Berkeley College HelpDesk. Use of Zoom and RingCentral technologies has also increased, leading to fewer in-person meetings across Berkeley College campuses. These are important social distancing solutions in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It is up to each of us to help contain the spread of COVID-19.

We are facing many uncertainties in this ever-evolving situation. I encourage you to stay positive and to take care of yourself and your family. Our students are counting on you too.

Many thanks to each and every one of you who have made this just another opportunity to show exactly what can be achieved when we work together as a team. Your continued support of all that we do to change lives will always be appreciated.

Sincerely,

Michael J. Smith
President
