Saint Michael’s Medical Center became a Berkeley College Corporate Learning Partner (CLP) in spring 2023. The 358-bed acute care hospital in the heart of Newark was established by the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor in 1867, and is operated by Prime Healthcare, which owns 45 hospitals and more than 300 outpatient locations nationwide.

“We believe in providing the highest quality of care to our patients and investing in our employees enables us to do just that,” said Mollie Cusack, Talent Acquisition Lead, Campus Relations, Saint Michael’s Medical Center.

Last year, Berkeley College welcomed Alan Sickles, MD, CEO, Saint Michael’s Medical Center, to its Newark campus for a networking breakfast, where he shared the many ways Saint Michael’s continues to grow and serve the community.

Cusack recently spoke about how Saint Michael’s utilizes the CLP program to help its employees succeed:

Q: In what way(s) does Saint Michael’s utilize the Berkeley College CLP program?

The CLP has given our employees access to Berkeley College’s healthcare programs, helping them to grow their careers and invest in their professional development. In return, we have had fantastic opportunities to engage with Berkeley students about employment opportunities at Saint Michael’s, both while in school and upon graduating. We are excited for the future and to continue and grow our partnership.

Q: How do you think continuing education opportunities will empower your employees and help your company change or excel?

Saint Michael’s cares about investing in its employees’ goals and professional development, and Berkeley College helps to carry out that vision by offering practical and renowned academic programs.

Q: Why would you recommend the Berkeley College CLP to other companies? Why do you think lifelong learning is important?

Partnering with Berkeley College is an effective way to invest in your employees. By building relationships with community educational institutions, we continue to strengthen the workforce, and help students achieve their career goals.
