Berkeley College joined leaders in media and business in elevating the voices of women during iHeartMedia’s Third Annual International Women’s Day celebration on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. The event featured panel discussions with some of radio’s top talent, an awards presentation and a performance from “Hell’s Kitchen on Broadway.”

Panelists including Thea Mitchem, Executive Vice President of Programming, iHeartMedia; Maria Milito (Q104.3); Angie Martinez (Power 105.1); Crystal Rosas (Z100 New York); and Wendy Wild (103.5 KTU), shared stories from their career journeys and advice to aspiring professionals on making their voices heard.

“You never want to assimilate into a situation,” Mitchem said. “You were brought in for a specific purpose. As women it is really important that you don’t lose who you are, your voice, why you are there, and what you are meant to do.”

“The greatest benefit of what we do is being able to help other people find their way,” Martinez said. “Mentorship, if you’re open to it, is a great two-way street. It’s important.”

“Stop waiting for permission to show up,” Rosas said. “Make space for yourself. Women have always had to work a little bit harder for these opportunities.”

A second panel featured community and business leaders from Berkeley College, Opella, Pet Meds, Saucony, and USA Clinics Group. Panagiota Babadelis, Senior Director, Marketing and Communications, shared how Berkeley College lives its mission of empowering each student to achieve lifelong success.

“Berkeley College’s undergraduate population is 72 percent female,” Babadelis said. “Our entire methodology is to put the student first, and we do this by providing resources to eliminate obstacles for those who might think higher education is not a possibility.”

Berkeley College presented the Rising Star in Business Award to student Alusha Olivier of Irvington, NJ, for demonstrating passion, resilience, and a pursuit of greatness. Olivier is pursuing a degree in Justice Studies and spearheads programs on campus that unite students and foster a sense of community.

The audience also heard from Danielle Monaro, co-host of Elvis Duran and the Z100 Morning Show, who received the Kaleidoscope Award presented by Hell’s Kitchen, for her dedication to the Down syndrome community.
