To qualify for graduation, students must register for the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification examination. Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania do not require individuals to obtain the CCA or CPC credential before becoming eligible for employment. The College has not made a determination with respect to certification requirements of other states. Employers may require the CCA or CPC credential or prefer candidates who have obtained the CCA or CPC credential.



As of the Fall 2019 semester, in order to qualify for graduation students must register for the CPC certification examination. Students will be eligible to sit for the CCA examination, however, the CCA examination will no longer satisfy the graduation requirement for this program.



Eligibility for internships required to obtain a Berkeley College degree and employment opportunities in the healthcare field may be contingent upon the results of a criminal history background check as well as a post-offer medical examination, which may include drug and alcohol testing, and receipt of satisfactory references. Applicants for whom such requirements may be matters of concern are strongly advised to contact an Admissions counselor prior to enrolling in this program.
