WHAT: Two Berkeley College New York students and one May 2021 graduate will compete in the Black Inventors Hall of Fame Inaugural Design Thinking Collegiate Challenge in Tulsa, OK, as part of a larger event hosted by the Black Excellence Alliance to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre and the destruction of Black Wall Street. Berkeley College’s Rebekah Andrews-Brannock, Cadjnie Cameau, and Keyry Broncano were tasked with developing an innovative solution to a problem that disproportionately affects the Black community. The team created an idea for an app to provide education and resources that will prevent human trafficking in young girls, a concept that stemmed from the experience of one of Andrews-Brannock’s relatives. Andrews-Brannock, Cameau and Broncano will face off against teams representing the University of Tulsa and the University of Colorado.

WHEN: Sunday, May 30, 2021, at 6:00 PM EST in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The competition will stream live at BlackExcellence.org. In-person interviews may be arranged with local media by request.
