Lemos, who has enjoyed professional success as an author and podcaster, serves as a mentor for Amigon through the Berkeley College Student/Alumni Mentorship Program. January is National Mentoring Month.

Linda Lemos believes mentorship is a “wonderful gift.”

“The value it holds for me is that it serves as an extension of education and learning beyond the classroom,” said Lemos, who holds both an Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies and a Bachelor of Science in International Business from Berkeley College. “The world needs more role models, inspiration, and positivity.”

January is National Mentoring Month.

Lemos shares her professional experience and career advice with the next generation of graduates through the Berkeley College Student/Alumni Mentorship Program, launched in 2023 with the platform UpNotch.

Through the program, Lemos and her mentee, Daniela Amigon, discuss everything from their shared experience as first-generation college students, to navigating corporate culture and office politics.

Lemos has a good deal of wisdom about personal and professional success to impart. She is the author of two books on social issues – “Can the Law Regulate Social Media and Should It?” and “Would Kentucky Voters Approve a Ban on Assault Weapons?” – and hosts “Linda Love Talks,” a free podcast covering topics in business, politics, health, and more.

Lemos currently works as a consultant in financial, legal, and health insurance services. She also serves as a brand spokesperson for Just Strong, a performance clothing line that seeks to motivate women to embrace strength and confidence.

“What I love about mentoring is teaching my mentees different ways on how to solve problems and showing them options,” said Lemos, who was raised in Orange, and currently resides in Budd Lake, NJ.

As a student at Berkeley College, Lemos served as Secretary of the Paralegal Club and was inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success. She credits her professors for inspiring her to be a lifelong learner, as well as her Career Counselor who helped launch her paralegal career through an internship in the corporate office of Toys “R” Us.

“Berkeley College opened many doors for me,” she said. “Getting up every morning and doing what you love to do truly is a blessing.”

“Linda has been a wonderful mentor,” said Amigon, Lemos’ mentee. Amigon, a resident of Paterson, NJ, is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design. “She is a very attentive person and is always sending me articles or videos in regard to interviewing, advancing in my chosen career, and the importance of networking.”

The team connected virtually for months, but attended a Berkeley College networking event together in November 2023.

“Linda gave me the push I needed to start networking, both online and in-person,” Amigon said. “I would recommend the Mentorship Program to everyone, as there is always something new you might learn.”

Michael Iris, EdD, Associate Vice President, Alumni Relations and Career Services, said the Berkeley College Student/Alumni Mentorship Program is an opportunity for graduates to give back to their alma mater while also learning from the next generation. Mentors and mentees often form lifelong connections and professional relationships.

“Through mentorship, Berkeley College alumni can share their expertise, experiences, and industry knowledge, helping current students as well as fellow alums make informed decisions and seize new opportunities,” Iris said.
