Julia Hutchinson
With more than two decades of experience, Julia Hutchinson is an accomplished graphic designer, instructional designer, and educator. She joined Berkeley College as a professor in 2014 and has served as Chair of Graphic Design since 2023.
Hutchinson is known for blending traditional design principles with emerging technologies, advancing the College’s design programs through curriculum enhancements that emphasize responsible, real-world application and meet evolving industry needs. Among her notable achievements is the creation of the Graphic Design Virtual Metaverse Gallery, an immersive platform that showcases student work across a range of media.
Hutchinson’s passion for education was ignited early, influenced by her mother who was also a schoolteacher. Driven by an innate love for technology and creativity, she discovered her natural calling within the college classroom. As a freelance graphic designer, she develops brand identity, motion graphics, and digital content for a diverse client base.
A New Jersey native and the daughter of Jamaican immigrants, Hutchinson values education, access, and opportunity. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Arts and Technology from Bloomfield College and a Master of Science in Education Media Design and Technology from Full Sail University, where she graduated as valedictorian.
