Kandis McLean, DNP, is the Nursing Chair in the School of Health Studies. Dr. McLean is a Maternal Health Nurse Scientist and accomplished academic leader with more than a decade of maternal child nursing experience and advocacy.

Dr. McLean has led initiatives in simulation-based education and maternal mortality reduction and has been instrumental in integrating artificial intelligence and virtual reality into nursing curricula. She serves on the Global Health Advisory Panel of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) and was honored as a 2024 AWHONN Fellow.

Dr. McLean holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice, a Master of Science as a Family Nurse Practitioner, and a Master’s degree in Nursing Education. She is a certified Nurse Executive, Healthcare Simulation Educator, and holds multiple specialty certifications in obstetrics and maternal-newborn nursing.
