Maria Rivera
Maria Rivera serves as Director of Continuing Education and Professional Development at Berkeley College, where she leads continuing education initiatives that support workforce development, professional learning, career readiness, and student success. She has more than 20 years of experience in in management, sales and technology training, project management, web development, video production, and training and development across Fortune 500 companies, educational institutions, and professional service organizations.
Ms. Rivera led strategic initiatives at New York University’s School of Professional Studies as Associate Director for the Management and Systems Graduate Degree Program and the Management and Technology Continuing Education Programs. She also served as Associate Director at the Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute at Baruch College and as Deputy Director of Learning Operations for the CUNY School of Professional Studies/ACS Project.
Throughout her career, Ms. Rivera has produced blended digital media training solutions for organizations across multiple industries. She has spoken at conferences and events including AT&T’s HACEMOS Leadership Conference, HISPA.org Youth Conferences, Trenton Computer Festivals, the ATD Suncoast “Women Making a Difference in Talent Development” event, and Berkeley College’s Building Bridges Comunidad, Educación y Cultura events in 2023, 2024, and 2025. She was also a panelist at the 2026 Newark Regional Business Partnership Inaugural Leadership Summit at Seton Hall University School of Law, where she spoke on career pivots, leadership, and calculated risks. She also moderated a panel of six authors during Berkeley College’s Women’s History Month celebration, highlighting advocacy, community, and inspiration.
Ms. Rivera designed and developed the course “Immersive Media in the Age of AI, Virtual Reality, and Augmented Reality” for the NYU School of Professional Studies Tisch Institute for Global Sport. Her work reflects a strong commitment to innovation, emerging technologies, immersive learning, and practical applications of AI in education and workforce development.
She currently serves as President of the Northern New Jersey Chapter of the Association for Talent Development. Additional professional affiliations include the Project Management Institute NYC Chapter, the Business Relationship Management Institute, and the Society for Human Resource Management. Giving back to the community is an important part of Ms. Rivera’s work. She has participated in HISPA.org’s Role Model Program and helped design and deliver app development training for middle and high school students in New York and New Jersey.
Ms. Rivera earned her BA from Lehman College and her MA in Adult Education and Training from the University of Phoenix. She is a certified NYS/NJ Real Estate Instructor, Certified ScrumMaster, and has earned a Data Visualization Certificate from NYU SPS and the Google AI Professional Certificate.
