Reneé Roberts-Turner, DHA, MSN, RN, NE-BC, CPHQ
Reneé Roberts-Turner, DHA, is the Executive Director of Nursing Excellence, Child and Family Services Magnet® Program for Children's National (CN) Hospital. She holds faculty appointments at George Washington University as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics for the School of Medicine and Health Sciences and a Senior Clinical Service Professor for the School of Nursing. She is also an Adjunct Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing (JHSON).
Roberts-Turner is a nurse leader who is zealous about changing the perspective of the nursing industry by challenging nurses at every level to lead through education, mentorship, and community. She inspires and motivates others to see possibilities, ensuring high-quality care is delivered in all work environments, and improves workplace culture.
Roberts-Turner led the creation and execution of the Division of Nursing Strategic Plans. She led CN through two Magnet re-designations, with submission documents accepted with no deficiencies and several exemplars. Roberts-Turner works with healthcare organizations nationally and internationally, evaluating the Professional Practice of Nursing within these organizations as a Magnet Appraiser for the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She created the Quality Improvement Column for the peer-reviewed journal Pediatric Nursing and serves as a column editor.
Roberts-Turner is an undergraduate of the University of Virginia at Wise with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a graduate of Marymount University with a Master of Nursing Education and the University of Phoenix with a Doctorate of Health Administration. Her research interests include leadership, nurse role-satisfaction, and patient experience. She is a lifelong learner of the art of leadership. Currently, she leads an international study that explores Mid-Level Nurse Leaders' Role-Related Peak and Nadir Experiences, which is funded by the Nursing Research Support Award from Dr. Suzanne Feetham. Additionally, Roberts-Turner played a key role in leading an interprofessional team that secured an American Nurses Association antiracism grant to fund a project aimed at creating an educational program for nurses and support staff on the care of Black and Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) patients' hair.
Roberts-Turner is the Chair for the District of Columbia's Career and Technical Education (DC CTE) Network Health Science Industry Advisory Board and Government Relations Chair for the Virginia Nurses Association, Northern VA Chapter. She resides in Woodbridge, VA, with her husband Lewis and two children Rhea and Louis.
