Berkeley College Receives Reaffimation of Accreditation

Berkeley College has received reaffirmation of accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (M.S.C.H.E.) in New Jersey and New York, following a 24-month Self-Study process and visits by Evaluation Teams.

“Reaccreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education is evidence of our institutional mission to empower students to achieve lifelong success in dynamic careers,” said Michael J. Smith, President of Berkeley College. “We thank the Evaluation Team members for dedicating their time and sharing their insights throughout the reaccreditation process. The results of the Middle States peer review process are a credit to the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff and administrators.”

Over the course of the Self-Study process, more than 80 conversations took place with students, alumni, faculty, staff, administrators and the Board of Trustees.

“The outcomes of the Self-Study, along with the extensive engagement of students and the entire Berkeley College community, enhance our vitality going forward,” President Smith added.

Preparation for reaccreditation by the Middle States Commission began in 2016 and included an in-depth institutional Self-Study that resulted in two written Self-Study reports: one for Berkeley College in New Jersey and one for Berkeley College in New York. These reports were submitted to M.S.C.H.E. in September 2017. The reports served as the basis for on-site evaluations by two teams of peer evaluators assigned to each state where Berkeley College operates campuses. In the Self-Study, Berkeley College considered its educational programs, policies and services, with particular attention to student learning and achievement. The College also determined how well these programs and services accomplished its goals, fulfilled its mission, and met M.S.C.H.E. standards.

The M.S.C.H.E. will conduct its next review in 2026-2027.
