Message from the Interim President: Update on the Start of the Winter 2022 Semester

Office of President

Dear Students,

I hope you are staying healthy and enjoying the spirit of the season despite challenging circumstances. Given the rising number of COVID-19 cases across New York and New Jersey due to the Omicron variant, I am writing to let you know that Berkeley College will be altering on-site campus operations for the start of the Winter 2022 semester.

The first two weeks of classes, which begin on Monday, January 3, 2022, will now be held virtually. Hybrid and fully on-site courses at all campuses will begin on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, following the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Your courses will soon be available in Canvas. Please contact your Academic Advisor if you have any questions about your course schedule for the winter semester.

All campuses will remain open during this time. You are strongly encouraged to reach out to any department to make an appointment prior to traveling to campus. All support services also remain available remotely.

As a reminder, Berkeley’s current COVID-19 protocols, including the face mask/covering requirement and the daily COVID-19 Health Questionnaire, remain in effect. To read the Winter 2022 Operations Plan, please visit the Berkeley College COVID-19 webpage.

While we continue to closely monitor the ever-evolving situation, I am confident that our experiences over the last 21 months, as well as our ability to pivot as needed, have successfully prepared us to safely begin a new semester of teaching and learning.

I wish you and your families a happy and healthy holiday season.

Sincerely,

Diane Recinos, Ed.D.
Interim President of Berkeley College
