Dear Students,

As we enter the third year of the pandemic, I want to thank you for your diligence in continuing your educational journey through ever-changing circumstances.

From the initial transition of on-site courses to a virtual modality in March 2020, to multiple reopening phases over the last year, Berkeley has weathered these circumstances by consistently supporting the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff members. We now appear to be entering the next phase of this pandemic as it becomes clearer that COVID-19 will be with us for years to come.

In keeping with the prioritization of the health and safety of the entire Berkeley College community, the College will implement a Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy for all students entering a Berkeley campus at the start of the spring semester.

Beginning on Monday, April 25, 2022, all students who arrive on campus for any reason, including classes or support services (e.g., library, computer lab, Center for Academic Success, etc.), must have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Students who have received only one dose of a two-dose vaccine by the start of the spring semester will be required to receive their second dose as prescribed by the vaccine manufacturer: 21 days for Pfizer and 28 days for Moderna after first dose; those who receive a World Health Organization-approved vaccine should visit the WHO website for more information. Students who receive Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine only receive one dose. Booster shots are not required at this time.

This new policy does not apply to students taking only online courses who do not travel to a Berkeley campus. The College previously announced a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for faculty and staff that takes effect on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.

Beginning with the Fall 2022 semester, all students entering a Berkeley campus must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. “Fully vaccinated” is defined as: two weeks after receiving the second dose in a two-dose series (Pfizer or Moderna); or two weeks after receiving a single-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen). Students must submit proof of full vaccination by or before Tuesday, September 6, 2022.

Please log in with your Berkeley College credentials and upload your proof of vaccination using this e-form, which lists all forms of acceptable proofs, by Monday, April 25, 2022, or when you receive your first dose prior to the start of the semester. The Office of the Registrar will review your proof submission for compliance with the vaccination policy. You will receive an email when your vaccination proof is approved or if additional information is needed. Students taking only online classes may also submit proof if you choose. The e-form is available through Engage.

We encourage all students to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

Thank you for your help in keeping our campus communities safe.

Sincerely,

Diane Recinos, EdD

Interim President of Berkeley College
