High school students will have a chance to learn about top luxury brands and focus on sustainable fashion during the Berkeley College virtual Fashion Summer Workshop on July 13, 2020, at 1 p.m. The workshop will feature conversations with industry experts and interactive projects.
“Our summer workshops are always a hit with students, and we’re excited to once again offer this chance for anyone interested in a career in fashion,” Laurie McBrinn, Berkeley College High School and Community Relations Coordinator, said.
The first speaker – Christina Ciglar, Retail Creative Director at Steve Madden – will talk about where she finds her inspiration to create. Next is Alex Montefalco, Director of Executive and Creative Recruitment at Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy. The brand is well known and active in areas such as wines and spirits; fashion and leather goods; perfumes and cosmetics; and watches and jewelry. Joline Mujica, Head of Trends and Tours, WindowsWear, will present “Sustainability in Fashion,” and will look for feedback from students.
Nancianne Esposito, Professor, Fashion, Berkeley College Larry L. Luing School of Business®, will direct an interactive project on “Building a Sustainable Brand.” “Students will work in groups to develop a brand concept and target market,” Esposito said. “I’m excited to see their presentations at the end of this project.”
There is still time to register for this free Fashion Summer Workshop, as well as for Career Week workshops in Legal and Justice Studies (July 14 at 1 p.m.), Business Leadership (July 15 at 1 p.m.) and Healthcare (July 16 at 1 p.m.).
“Choosing a career is an important decision, and I encourage students to take advantage of these opportunities,” McBrinn said.
