Berkeley College Disability Services Department Hosts National Disability Employment Awareness Event

“Heroes in Need of Heroes and their Stories,” will highlight veterans with disabilities at a free virtual forum hosted by Berkeley College in recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness month on October 29 from 2 to 4 p.m. The guest speakers will present male and female veteran points of view that include resilience through their service, disability and employment experiences. A question-and-answer session will follow.
“This is an important event to attend,” said Sharon McLennon-Wier, PhD, CRC, LMHC, Berkeley College Director of Disability Services, “because according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (in 2019), "4.7 million veterans, or 25 percent of the total veteran population, had a service-connected disability."
