Berkeley College has named Eleni Pellazgu as Interim Associate Dean and Interim Chair of Graduate Nursing Programs in its School of Health Studies. In this role, Pellazgu will oversee implementation of the College’s Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program, the only Licensed Practical Nurse-Bachelor of Science in Nursing-Master of Science in Nursing (LPN-BSN-MSN) pathway program in the State of New Jersey. Pellazgu will preside over the first class of the MSN program, which launches in the spring 2022 semester on Monday, April 25.
“Professor Pellazgu brings a wealth of experience as an educator, a nurse clinician and a researcher of nursing science,” said Eva Skuka, MD, PhD, Dean, Berkeley College School of Health Studies. “She will work closely with nursing faculty to establish and maintain the academic quality, integrity and viability of the newly approved MSN program.”
With enrollment into the MSN program underway, Pellazgu is responsible for the planning, management and assessment of MSN program curricula, its accreditation process by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, the hiring and evaluation of faculty, and additional responsibilities that contribute to access, retention, learning and success for graduate nursing students.
The New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education approved the Berkeley College MSN program in December 2021. The program has specialized concentrations in Nursing Leadership and Management, Nursing Education, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Public Health and Emergency Management Nursing.
In her 13-year-career, Pellazgu has worked in long-term care, acute care and rehabilitation services, emergency room medicine and critical care. She served as a faculty member at Walden University, Rutgers University and Felician University, before joining the Berkeley College School of Health Studies in 2021. She has presented nationally and internationally, is a published scholar, and has served as a peer reviewer for many nursing and professional journals.
A resident of Morristown, NJ, Pellazgu earned a Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner from Rutgers University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Thomas Edison University, an Associate’s degree in Nursing – Registered Nurse from Excelsior College, and completed the Licensed Practical Nurse program at Eastwick College. She is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing program, with a focus in Education, Nutrition and Metabolism, at Rutgers University.
Pellazgu maintains her clinical practice as a per diem Family Nurse Practitioner in a private practice and at Atlantic Medical Group – Morristown Medical Center as an Advanced Practice Nurse Hospitalist for the Internal Medicine department. She serves as President of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing – Alpha Tau chapter at Rutgers University; President of the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) New Jersey chapter; and a trustee for the Diabetes Foundation of New Jersey.
