Berkeley College is among the recipients of the inaugural NJBIZ Empowering Women Award, honoring companies for their tangible and innovative efforts to advance women in the workplace. Berkeley College was also the supporting sponsor of the awards ceremony, held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, in Somerset, NJ.
Honorees were selected on their records of recruiting, hiring, and promoting women; advancing women through community endeavors; and working toward systemic change to combat inequality, among other criteria. Among the more than 50 companies selected are the New York Jets, Valley Bank, Hackensack Meridian Health, Dress for Success, and the YWCA of Northern New Jersey. The College celebrates its legacy of advancing women in leadership and creating inclusive spaces to educate and empower.”

The College strengthens its commitment to gender equity through a DEI Advisory Committee, which ensures that the College cultivates a culture that reflects its diversity.
With a student population that is more than 70 percent female, the College also prioritizes mentorship, and offers robust programming such as Women’s Entrepreneurship Week, which connect successful business leaders with aspiring women entrepreneurs.
