City & State New York recently recognized Steven Perry, Berkeley College Director, Financial Aid, New York City, among its inaugural list of Black Trailblazers. Perry is honored alongside more than 60 leaders in business, education, politics, healthcare, and other fields.
According to City & State, the list of 2025 Black Trailblazers “reflects the gradual gains made during hard-fought battles for equality and justice over decades, if not centuries.”
Perry began his career at Berkeley College in 2013 as a Financial Aid Administrator. In his current role as Director, Financial Aid, he guides students, many of them the firsts in their families to attend college, through the financial aid process, ensuring they have the resources to succeed.
“The most rewarding part of my role in Financial Aid is being able to significantly shape the lives of young adults and provide a sense of financial literacy to help them understand the investment that is being made in their education and their futures,” Perry said.
Perry also serves as the Manager of Operations for Bigger Than Basketball, LLC, a nonprofit that fosters youth development through sports and promotes values including teamwork, leadership, and resilience. He was a 2023 recipient of the Berkeley College Extra Mile Award, which recognized his dedication to student service.
Perry holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from Fisher College in Boston, MA. He is a resident of Staten Island, NY.
