BERKELEY COLLEGE STUDENTS CELEBRATE |
Photo Caption: Berkeley College students celebrated diversity at the 27th Annual Queens Pride Parade and Festival, held on June 2, 2019 in Jackson Heights, Queens. Representatives from the Berkeley College Gender and Sexuality Alliance, along with faculty and friends of the students, supported the event, which aims to connect people in the community, and give them access to social justice, health and educational organizations. Pictured (L to R) are Berkeley College students Christina Canela of the Bronx, Gina Roman of Brooklyn, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, New York Representative (D-14), and Angelica Abreu of Manhattan. “I enjoyed talking with all of my fellow students about diversity and unity,” said Ms. Canela. “Some were not necessarily part of the LGBTQ+ lifestyle, but came to march and exhibit their pride. We’re just humans after all.”
