Iessa J. Sutton, Campus Operating Officer, Berkeley College, Brooklyn, was recognized with the “Making a Difference Award” at the Fifth Annual Fierce Fabulous Unstoppable Conference held on June 2, 2019 at the Hilton in Brooklyn, NY. 

“I salute Iessa for the exemplary leadership she has shown, and for being a dedicated community leader,” said Eric Adams, Brooklyn Borough President, who presented Ms. Sutton with a special citation to commemorate the event.

Michael J. Smith, President of Berkeley College, said, “Events such as this Conference amplify the voices of women and recognize the accomplishments of leaders in our communities, including those of Berkeley’s own Iessa J. Sutton, who is a role model for our students.”

“It was an honor to share the stage with such fierce, fabulous and unstoppable women who exemplify success and make it a priority to help empower future generations with their knowledge and experiences. At Berkeley College I work with amazing students who inspire me every day,” Ms. Sutton said.

Ms. Sutton joined Berkeley College as a Career Services counselor in September 2012, where she held leadership roles prior to her appointment as Campus Operating Officer in September 2015. As Campus Operating Officer Ms. Sutton manages campus operations in Brooklyn and works to strengthen partnerships with businesses in the community to support internships and career opportunities for students. Before her career at Berkeley, she held management positions at The Harlem School of the Arts, The Hewitt School and The Julliard School. A longtime supporter of the performing arts, Ms. Sutton serves on the Board of Directors at the Theatre of Dance Movement Cultural Arts Academy, Saint Albans, Queens, NY, he school she attended as a youngster.

Ms. Sutton resides in Harlem, Manhattan, NY. She holds an MA in Arts and Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix, a BA in Psychology, with a double minor in Music and Communications from Clark Atlanta University.
