OCTOBER EVENTS 

October 6

Berkeley College is sponsoring the 44th Annual Hispanic State Parade of New Jersey. The event celebrates Hispanic heritage in the state.  All are invited to walk along the parade route with the Berkeley College faculty, staff, students and alumni. The group will meet at 11 a.m. in North Bergen, NJ, and will proceed to Union City, NJ. To register or for more information, call 800-446-5400, ext. Berkeley College will host an Open House and Scholarship Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is for high school seniors and adults.  Guests will have the opportunity to meet and greet staff and faculty, and learn about degree programs, as well as financial aid and scholarship opportunities.  Transfer students will learn about transfer opportunities. Criminal Justice Seminar:  Are you interested in occupations in the American criminal justice system?  Would you like to identify potential career options?  Get firsthand insight from a police executive, a law enforcement officer, Berkeley College staff and alumni in the field. Berkeley College will host Wine and Design from 5:30 to 8 p.m. This fun, informative evening will give an inside look into the exciting world of Interior Design hosted by a professional interior designer.  You will have the chance to create your own bathroom or kitchen project. October is National Disability Awareness month and Domestic Violence/Sexual Trauma Awareness month. In recognition, Berkeley College is holding a seminar on “Road to Resilience,” spotlighting individuals who have been resilient through disabilities, domestic violence or sexual trauma. The seminar runs from 2 to 4 p.m. and there is no cost to attend.  A question-and-answer period will follow.

Speakers are:  Amanda Babcock, M.A., Senior Business Owner, Accessibility, Western Governors University; Janelle Carl, M.A., Guidance Counselor, Dutchess Community College; Susan Carpenter, PhD, Associate Professor, Behavioral Sciences, Kingsborough Community College; and Linda Cornigans, EdD, Associate Minister, First Baptist Church of Bay Shore.
