The Gallery at Woodland Park is featuring the Graphic Design Alumni Exhibit through October 28, 2019 at Berkeley College. The exhibition displays works in web design, identity design, 3-D modeling, package design, and photography of more than 20 alumni.

“I’m pleased to have the opportunity to exhibit the work of our talented alumni,” said Carlos Cruz, Chair, Graphic Design, Berkeley College School of Professional Studies, when he welcomed the guests at the opening reception on September 26, 2019.

Alumna Amal Bendriss of Bloomfield, NJ, already had earned a degree in design in her native country of Morocco. She enrolled in the Graphic Design program at Berkeley College because she wanted to learn newer design skills using today’s software platforms. “I felt I had the talent, but I needed the digital skills, especially using Illustrator and Photoshop,” she said. “Now I am focusing on learning as much as I can in my job at Incoco Color Street.  Everyone at my place of business is so supportive. I want to grow with this company.”

Alumnus Michael Andrew Zamor of Linden, NJ, has a special interest in illustrating characters, which he stylizes using 2-D drawing tools. He is working as a freelance design artist while developing his animated character collections. He also has created graphic comics and novels. “I write the scripts on my own and use really bold lines and different coloring to distinguish my characters,” he said.

The innovative and comprehensive Graphic Design program at Berkeley College exposes students to the problem-solving process using a broad range of traditional, digital and emerging media. Facilities include modern studio/lab environments that encourage entrepreneurial teamwork and collaboration. Students complete their portfolios, internships and capstone projects prior to graduation, working closely with Career Services Counselors to secure future employment.

The Gallery is an 1,800-square-foot exhibit and presentation space, part of a design center created for Berkeley College students and alumni to exhibit their work in a professional setting. The Gallery exhibit will be on display through October 28, 2019, Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
